Amaretto Sour
A perfect harmony of sweet and sour, this timeless cocktail transforms the rich, almond-kissed flavour of Amaretto into a beautifully balanced and velvety-smooth drink. The frothy egg white top adds a touch of elegance and a luxuriously soft texture.
Ingredients:
60 ml Amaretto Liqueur
30 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
15 ml Egg White (or aquafaba for a vegan alternative)
The Method:
The Dry Shake: Combine the Amaretto, fresh lemon juice, and egg white in a cocktail shaker. Do not add ice yet. Seal the shaker and shake with vigour for about 15-20 seconds. This "dry shake" is the secret to creating that rich, silky foam.
- The Iced Shake: Now, open the shaker, add a generous amount of ice, and shake again until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the drink is thoroughly chilled.
- Serve: Strain the cocktail directly into a chilled rocks glass over fresh ice, or into your fanciest coupe glass without ice.
- Garnish: For the final flourish, garnish with a brandied cherry or a thin slice of orange wedge. Enjoy your crafted cocktail!
